ADDING INTEREST WITH BRICK SHAPESThis program focuses on the use of shapes, not only to increase the aesthetic quality of brickwork, but also toward accomplishing better detailing and better performing brickwork. Increased water penetration resistance, reducing the size of expansion joints, and the proper design of acute angle corners, can all be realized using shapes. Included is a discussion on how to reduce the cost of shapes through individual brick design and considerations of color, size, and bond patterns. Other topics included in the course are manufacturing, functions of specific shapes and brick sculpture.Learning Objectives1. Select clay brick shapes to limit water penetration.2.
